Medical Acupuncture

Medical-based acupuncture is a precise nerve stimulation technique where fine needles are inserted at specific neurofunctional sites and stimulated manually or with electricity. It's used to modulate abnormal nervous system activity, relieve pain, and address functional issues.

At North Shore Wellness, our physiotherapists and chiropractors design treatment plans based on the specific neurological dysfunctions behind your symptoms.

Acupuncture is commonly used to treat:

  • Chronic pain conditions (arthritis, degenerative disc disease)

  • Migraines and cervicogenic headaches

  • Chronic neck and low back pain / sciatica

  • Fibromyalgia

  • TMJ dysfunction and dental pain

  • Sports injuries and strains

  • Repetitive strain injuries (tennis elbow, rotator cuff tendonitis)

A major 2004 clinical study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found acupuncture significantly reduces pain and improves function in knee osteoarthritis patients. It's now recognized by the National Institutes of Health as an accepted treatment for pain.
