Concussion Management

A concussion is a brain injury from a blow to the head or a forceful jolt elsewhere on the body. It can cause headaches, dizziness, neck pain, nausea, poor balance or concentration, "foggy" feelings, memory issues, vision changes, and fatigue.

At North Shore Wellness, our physiotherapists regularly treat concussions from sports injuries, falls, and car accidents. Your first visit includes a thorough assessment — reviewing your history and symptoms, testing strength, coordination, and range of motion, and performing a Vestibular-Ocular Motor Screen to assess inner ear and vision function.

Ongoing treatment is tailored to your recovery and may include concussion education, activity modifications, manual therapy, vestibular-ocular exercises, and a graduated return-to-activity program — done in close contact with your family physician to safely rebuild tolerance and prevent setbacks.

Recovery timelines vary, but early guidance can make a real difference. Don't wait to get support.
